According to the results of the Household Labor Force Survey; In the third quarter of 2022, the number of unemployed people aged 15 and older fell by 234 thousand compared to the previous quarter and stood at 3 million, 433 thousand people.
The unemployment rate, on the other hand, was 10 percent with a drop of 0.7 percentage points, while it was estimated at 8.7 percent for men and 12.8 percent for women.
EMPLOYMENT RATE IS 47.5 PERCENT
The number of employed persons increased by 123 thousand people in the third quarter of 2022 compared to the previous quarter and amounted to 30 million 787 thousand people.
The employment rate remained unchanged at 47.5%. While this rate was 64.9 percent for men, it was 30.5 percent for women.
LABOR PARTICIPATION 52.8 PERCENT
In the third quarter of 2022, the workforce decreased by 111 thousand people compared to the previous quarter and amounted to 34 million 220 thousand people.
Labor participation, on the other hand, fell by 0.4 percentage point to 52.8 percent. The labor force participation rate was 71.1 percent for men and 34.9 percent for women.
UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IN THE YOUTH POPULATION 19.1 PERCENT
The unemployment rate among the young population aged 15-24 was 19.1 percent, down 0.8 percentage points from the previous quarter.
Unemployment rate in this age group; It was estimated at 16.1 percent for men and 24.7 percent for women.
56.7 PERCENT OF EMPLOYMENT WAS IN SERVICES
Seasonally adjusted number of employed persons in the third quarter of 2022 in the agriculture sector decreased by 26 thousand persons and in industry by 107 thousand persons compared to the previous quarter, while in the construction sector by 8 thousand persons and in the services sector by 247 thousand persons has increased .
15.8 percent of workers worked in agriculture, 21.6 percent in industry, 5.9 percent in construction and 56.7 percent in the service sector.
The average weekly actual working time, adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, was 43.7 hours.
The seasonally and calendar-adjusted average weekly actual working hours of employees during the reference period decreased by 0.4 hours from the previous quarter to 43.7 hours in the third quarter of 2022.
IRREGULAR LABOR PERCENTAGE IS 20.9 PERCENT
The inactive labor force, which consists of time-related underemployment, potential labor force and the unemployed, was 20.9 percent in the third quarter of 2022, down 0.5 percentage points from the previous quarter.
While the combined rate of time-related underemployment and unemployed was 14.2 percent, the combined rate of potential employment and unemployed was estimated at 17.1 percent.
