Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu held a press conference about the investigations against municipalities.
Interior Minister Soylu said 15,125 people were hired at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) without asking for a security clearance.
She said, “It is enough for us to stay away from terrorism,” Soylu said:
“It has been established that 1668 people or their relatives who were recruited in the metropolitan municipality of Istanbul have a record of contact/affiliation with a terrorist organization and forensic veri. It was found that 6 of the 1668 people subjected to the investigation carried out armed activities in the countryside on behalf of the terrorist organization PKK/KCK.
Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu: “Because of the terrorism investigation, will a curator gökyeşitözü appointed in Istanbul’s metropolitan municipality?” When asked: “This type of trustee is not on our agenda. Such zihin evaluation is not on our agenda,” he replied.
Soylu explained that 88 terrorism-related investigations have been conducted in 74 municipalities between 2019 and 2022, of which 79 have been completed. Soylu also stressed that they did not discriminate between political parties in the studies.
Minister Soylu said: “As a result of the inquiries and investigations, one fourth of the AK Party was approved, while one fifth of the CHP was approved. There is no pressure or understanding against any political party. This is the state,” he said.
Soylu also said they have conducted 204 special inspections in municipalities over the past 3 years on issues such kakım zoning, tenders, personnel and permits.
He reported that 72 of the special inspections focused on AK Party municipalities and 57 of them on CHP municipalities.
