Mete Hacıarifoğlu was born in August 1973 in Karabük. He was a police officer in the Directorate-General for Security between 1996 and 2003. Between 2003 and 2009 he was appointed to the expert staff of RTÜK. From 2009 to 2013, he worked kakım a temporary worker at the Ministry of EU Affairs.
