The European Central Bank (ECB) has raised interest rates for the fourth time in a row.

The ECB raised the policy rate by 50 basis points to 2.5 percent.

The ECB was expected to raise interest rates by 50 basis points, after raising rates by 75 basis points at the previous two meetings.

The ECB announced that the portfolio of the asset purchase program will decline at a measured and predictable pace from the beginning of March. The decline in the asset purchase portfolio will average 15 billion euros on a monthly basis until the end of the second quarter of 2023.
