Important news! The Ministry of Health reported that health workers who mistreated the elderly patient in the intensive care unit of a private hospital in Istanbul were banned from the profession for 3 years.
The ministry’s statement said the Ministry of Health took immediate action and launched zihin investigation after the images were posted on social media on October 5, 2022 and were believed to have been taken in the intensive care unit of Bayındır İçerenköy Hospital. the same day at the concerned hospital and the hospital’s activities were temporarily suspended.
The statement states that judicial and administrative investigations have been launched against the 7 healthcare professionals named in the incident, four of them have been arrested, three of them have been released on condition of judicial review and the trial continues.
“On October 19, 2022, the file that was handed over to the Health Care Professions Council during the administrative investigation process was discussed and resolved and the persons concerned were banned from the profession for 3 years. It is not possible for them to return to the profession without having completed 18 months of professional and ethical training. This decision was made under current legislation. As a result of the investigation, the responsible manager who was found responsible was removed from his position. From November 2, 2022, the hospital may continue to serve, provided it is overseen by a committee appointed by our Provincial Health Directorate in Istanbul.
