Aykaç, who has been the GPD presidency since January 2019, announced his decision to step down in a written statement.
Aykaç stated that his statements were distorted and so he decided to resign.
Emphasizing that the Food Retailers Association has not been associated with any political structure so far, Aykaç said: “I have watched with regret that Mr. Devlet Bahçeli showed sensitivity after the speculations that surfaced. It was never my intention to to offend him.”
