An earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter scale struck the town of Neiafu in Tonga, a country made up of about 169 islands in the Pacific Ocean, USGS reported.
A tsunami warning was issued after the earthquake. Dangerous tsunami waves have been reported to occur in areas within 300km of the epicenter, including American Samoa.
