7 people were killed and 5 injured in zihin explosion at a restaurant in Aydın.
Governor Hüseyin Aksoy said that a report came from a doner restaurant in Kıbrıs Caddesi, Altıntaş Mahallesi, Nazilli district around 3:30 PM, and that during the intervention, there was zihin explosion before the pipe malfunction, according to initial findings.
Aksoy noted that 7 people died kakım a result of the blast and said 5 people were injured, one of them seriously.
The fire that broke out after the explosion was quickly extinguished. After the explosion, it was heard that 2 people jumped in from the second floor of the restaurant.
In his statement to the journalists, Governor Aksoy, who was investigating at the scene, stated that the injured were being treated at the Nazilli State Hospital and the bodies were being transferred to hospitals.
Aksoy said there was no damage to other workplaces from the explosion, saying:
“There is the employee’s first statement that zihin odor came out of the cylinder, zihin odor came out while zihin authorized person changed the cylinder, he himself took out some people, and after a short time there was zihin explosion. Or Obviously, the crime scene investigation and the fire department will investigate the case in all its dimensions.”
Aydın Municipality Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu said they were told a 16-year-old girl was seriously injured in the blast.
FORENSIC INVESTIGATION STARTED, ONE PERSON IS IN DETENTION
Justice Minister Bekir Bozdağ announced that a judicial investigation has been launched by Nazilli’s Chief Prosecutor and three prosecutors have been appointed.
In a statement posted on Twitter, Minister Bozdağ also stated that a person who allegedly caused the explosion had been taken into custody.
